Sheriff’s Department Apprehends Fugitive in Hornsby

The Hardeman County Sheriff’s Department spent Friday morning actively searching for a fugitive in the Hornsby area and had placed Hornsby Elementary on lockdown as a precaution.

A message shared from the Sheriff’s Department stated, “Deputies are in Hornsby attempting to apprehend a fugitive that was seen in the area. Hornsby Elementary School has been placed on lockdown as a precautionary measure. There is no threat to any of the students or staff at the school. If you live in Hornsby please make sure your vehicles and homes are secured. We will remain in the area until this subject is apprehended.”

The suspect, Cory Waldrop, has been apprehended and the lockdown at Hornsby Elementary has been lifted. Waldrop was wanted out of Chester, McNairy, Hardeman, and Madison Counties. He is believed to be responsible for multiple car thefts in Hardeman County.
