Obituary: Janice Marie Vaughan
Janice Marie Vaughan, 77, of Bolivar, departed this life on Saturday afternoon, December 30, 2023, at Baptist Hospital – Memphis.
She was the daughter of the late George Vaughan and Clara Callahan Vaughan Clifton, and lived most all her life in Bolivar. Janice was a 1965 graduate of Bolivar Central High School and member of Bolivar First Baptist Church.
She worked as a clerk in the office of Bolivar Utility Department for eight to nine years. Prior to her time with the the City, she had been owner/operator of Merle Norman in Bolivar. Janice also worked for Grinder Building in Memphis where she lived for several years. She enjoyed visiting with her many friends as she had opportunities in and around Bolivar and, for several years, she played the part of “Miss Scarlett” in Bolivar’s Hee-Haw show. There, she generously gave of her time and talent to help raise money for the American Cancer Society.
Services will be held at Bolivar First Baptist Church on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at 11 a.m. with burial in the Bolivar Memorial Cemetery. Shackelford Funeral Directors of Bolivar is in charge of professional arrangements.
She leaves behind a host of extended family and friends who will remember her warmly and fondly.
In addition to her father and mother, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Marcus Clifton.
Memorials may be sent to the Bolivar First Baptist Church.
