Plant Donations Needed Now to Help Fayette Cares Grow Kindness
Many are anxiously awaiting the 32nd annual Fayette Cares charity plant sale that will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at Oakland Elementary School. Gardeners across West Tennessee are encouraged to contribute their plants and show their support. With over 10,000 flowers, fruits, herbs, and vegetables expected to be available, the event promises to be a haven for gardening enthusiasts and philanthropists alike.
Signs of spring are all around us with hostas, lilies, and other perennials bursting out of dormancy. Now is the perfect time to divide many varieties of perennials to ensure their continued health and vigor. Gardeners have long been contributing these thinnings to the Fayette Cares plant sale, knowing they nurture kindness within the community.
Pots or soil are not prerequisites for plant donations, as Tracy and his team of Fayette Cares supporters diligently collect and recycle pots while also creating compost from food pantry waste and garden materials. Simply dig up your plants, label them with a plant name and color, then coordinate a drop-off in Oakland, Tennessee by leaving a message with John Tracy at (901) 491-2894. The deadline for donations is Thursday, April 11, 2024.
The event is not just about plants – it’s about sowing the seeds of caring while embracing the beauty of nature. John Tracy, a dedicated Fayette Cares plant sale volunteer for over three decades, and member of St. Philip Knights of Columbus, leads the effort to gather plant donations with 100 percent of the sales benefiting services for the homeless, victims of domestic violence, those suffering from food insecurity, and much more. He enthusiastically endorses the one-day sale as the premier selection of plants in the region. “The Fayette Cares Plant Sale is the best selection of plants in West Tennessee!” says Tracy.
