Plaintiffs in FLSA Lawsuit Release Statement Through Attorney William Sessions
On Thursday July 11, 2024, HCG tendered a settlement offer of $3.2 million which was discussed with the representative plaintiff(s) and quickly rejected for several reasons, one of which is that $3.2 million does not pay the plaintiffs what they are substantially owed. { read article }
POLITICS
Commissioner Withdraws $3.2 Million Settlement Offer After Attorney Rejects It Before Vote
Conder stated he offered the plaintiffs $3.2 million to settle all of the FLSA claims the previous week, but that the plaintiffs had rejected the offer and their attorney had recently e-mailed him a new demand for $3.9 million in attorneys fees and $3.85 million for damages and to settle the case. { read article }

Middleton’s Morgan Talley Signs to Become a Jackson State Community College Green Jay
Middleton High School’s (MHS) Morgan Talley is a signed Jackson State Community College (JSCC) Green Jay basketball player. Talley, who graduated in the MHS Class of 2024, is on the JSCC basketball team roster and will be ready to play this fall. { read article }

Fish Fry Raises Funds for New Hickory Valley Fire Truck
There were 199 catfish plates sold during the fundraiser, which helped to bring them even closer to their goal. { read article }

Big Hill Pond State Park Receives $101,200 Tire Program Grant
The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) recently announced a grant of $101,500 for Big Hill Pond State Park from the state’s Tire Environmental Act Program. { read article }
