Help Loaves and Fishes Fill Its Shelves to Assist Those in Need

Loaves and Fishes is on call Monday through Friday to serve Hardeman County families in need with food for short-term assistance. The non-profit organization has provided that service to the local community for more than 20 years. Loaves and Fishes needs help from the community to keep its shelves full, so it can continue helping Hardeman County families.

Each year, more than 200 food boxes are distributed to families who have been referred by area churches to Loaves and Fishes. Those families have benefited from the boxes that are made up of donations from the local community.

Non-perishable items are included in a regular Loaves and Fishes food box. In the past, during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday season, recipients receive a regular food box and a special holiday box that includes a turkey or ham. Loaves and Fishes has a list of items it includes in each regular food box. Donations of those specific items enables volunteers to pack full boxes of approved food for the families.

Right now, Loaves and Fishes is especially in need of canned meat, cereal, crackers, spinach/other greens, and rice.

Loaves and Fishes accepts food and monetary donations and appreciates the regular contributions that come from the community. You may contact Loaves and Fishes at (731) 609-2397 to donate, and learn how to receive assistance.
