David Nabors, Candidate for Hardeman County Sheriff

My name is David Nabors. I am a graduate of the Memphis Police Academy and have spent my career in law enforcement, gaining experience from frontline patrol work to leadership positions.

I began my career as a patrolman, working the street and responding directly to the needs of the community. I later worked violent crime cases as part of a task force, gaining experience in complex investigations and coordinated enforcement efforts. One of my proudest areas of experience has been working with police K9 units. I served as a K9 master trainer and was responsible for training and certifying working police K9s for agencies. That role required professionalism, consistency, and attention to detail, as proper training directly affects officer safety, public safety, and liability.

As my career progressed, I held responsibility over the entire patrol division under Chief R. Jewell. In that role, I oversaw daily operations, budget planning, resource allocation, scheduling, and personnel management. This experience demonstrated that effective leadership is not about titles, but about accountability, clear expectations, and sound decisions that protect public safety.

I currently serve as a special agent for the State of Tennessee, working complex investigations and collaborating with local, state, and federal agencies. This role has reinforced the importance of transparency, cooperation, and accountability in effective law enforcement.

A sheriff must lead from the front. I will work alongside the men and women who serve this county, remaining actively involved in operations and decision-making. Deputies should know what is expected of them, receive proper training and support, and be held accountable when standards are not met. Visible and engaged leadership builds professionalism, strengthens morale, and results in better service to the public.

I am announcing my candidacy for Sheriff of Hardeman County because our sheriff’s office must be led with accountability, transparency, and competency. The people of Hardeman County deserve a sheriff who answers to the citizens and upholds the highest standards of public service.

As sheriff, I will restore public trust by operating with honesty, openness, and accountability. I will make department operations and spending transparent, enforce standards equally for all employees, and ensure complaints are handled fairly and independently. Through regular public updates and community engagement, I will lead a sheriff’s office that answers to the people and earns their confidence every day.

My wife and I are raising four children, and like many families in Hardeman County, we care deeply about public safety and a secure future. We volunteer at Hardeman County Adoptable Animals and are proud to call Hardeman County home.

I am running to bring strong, experienced leadership to the Hardeman County Sheriff’s Office—leadership that is fair, consistent, and focused on serving the people of Hardeman County. I would be honored to earn your trust and your vote.
