The Honorable Mark Davidson Elected to Lead Tennessee District Attorneys

Mark Davidson, District Attorney General for the 25th Judicial District, is the newly elected President of the Tennessee District Attorneys General Conference’s (TNDAGC) Executive Committee. Chosen by his fellow District Attorneys General across the state, Gen. Davidson will help lead the organization and play a crucial role in guiding the overall administration of justice in Tennessee.
“I am honored by the trust of my fellow District Attorneys and look forward to working together to strengthen public safety, support victims, and uphold the fair and effective administration of justice across Tennessee,” said General Davidson.
“The President of the Conference leads Tennessee’s District Attorneys as they seek to improve public safety, serve victims and keep Tennesseans safe. Leading the Executive Committee, the President serves as a catalyst for policy and administrative innovation.” said TNDAGC Executive Director, Stephen Crump. “I am confident in General Davidson’s ability to lead and advance our important work.”
Gen. Davidson began his prosecutorial career in 1992, immediately after graduating law school, when District Attorney Betsy Rice hired him as an Assistant District Attorney in the 25th Judicial District. He began prosecuting cases in Tipton County, and within a year, Gen. Rice made him the lead and only prosecutor in Lauderdale County. Gen. Davidson later worked for the Tennessee Attorney General’s Office handling criminal cases on appeal and eventually death penalty cases. He was able to return to the District Attorney’s Office in 2011 as Gen. Michael Dunavant’s Deputy District Attorney before being appointed District Attorney General in September 2017. He was elected District Attorney in 2018 and reelected in 2022.
The Tennessee District Attorneys General Conference was created by the General Assembly in 1961 to provide for a more prompt and efficient administration of justice in the courts of the state. It is composed of the elected District Attorneys General from the state’s 32 judicial districts. www.tndagc.org
