West Tennessee Healthcare Bolivar Hospital Nears Opening as Construction Enters Final Stages
The countdown is underway as the new West Tennessee Healthcare Bolivar Hospital enters the final stages of construction and prepares to welcome patients on the scheduled opening date of November 9, 2026.
Located at 760 Vildo Road, the new hospital represents a significant investment in healthcare services for Bolivar and the surrounding West Tennessee communities. As construction crews put the finishing touches on the facility, hospital leaders and staff are preparing for the transition into the new space and the expanded services it will provide.
The new facility will feature six inpatient beds and 12 emergency department rooms, expanding emergency care capacity by 25% compared with the current hospital’s nine emergency rooms. The emergency department expansion is designed to provide additional space for patients seeking emergency care while improving the hospital’s ability to serve the community.
Patients arriving at the new hospital will use the main public entrance, where registration and patient access will be located. Emergency patients will also enter through the main entrance and will be directed to triage and emergency care. The dedicated emergency entrance will be reserved for EMS personnel. Parking for patients and visitors will be located directly in front of the hospital’s main entrance.
In addition to expanded emergency and inpatient capacity, the new hospital will continue providingoutpatient services currently available to the community, including sleep lab services, cardiac rehabilitation, swing-bed services, and physical therapy.
The facility will also offer enhanced imaging and diagnostic capabilities, giving providers access to improved technology and additional diagnostic options compared with the current facility.
Another feature will be the doubling of negative-pressure isolation rooms, which are designed to help prevent airborne infectious diseases from spreading beyond the patient’s room. The rooms can be used when patients require isolation because of certain infectious conditions.
The new hospital is being built with the goal of maintaining continuity of care while providing updated clinical and patient-care spaces for the community.
For hospital staff, the approaching opening represents more than a new building. It is also the next chapter in the community’s longstanding commitment to local healthcare.
“We are excited as part of West Tennessee that we can make this commitment to rural communities and takecare of people in rural communities,” Ruby Kirby, CEO of WTH-Bolivar and Camden Hospitals said. “We know there are healthcare deserts out there, but we want to be the solution and not the problem.”
As the scheduled November 9th opening approaches, construction and preparation will continue, including the installation and movement of equipment and supplies into the new facility.
Hospital leaders are also preparing patients and the community for the transition, with additionalinformation about the new location, parking, services,and opening to be shared in the weeks ahead.
The new West Tennessee Healthcare Bolivar Hospital is scheduled to open on November 9th at 760 Vildo Road in Bolivar.
