Community Shows Caring with Fayette Cares Christmas Food Distribution
Christmas caring filled the air when hundreds of Fayette Cares volunteers gathered on Saturday, December 10, 2022, to package and distribute food boxes for close to 400 families in need.
For many, the holiday season is the most wonderful time of the year. But for families struggling with homelessness, hunger, and family violence, there is little joy and celebration. At Warren Community Church, volunteers formed a large assembly line to cheerfully deliver a food gift to grateful families.
It was heartwarming to see great support from churches, schools, businesses, clubs, groups, and individuals. Examples of caring abounded with churches like Warren Community Church, St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, Somerville United Methodist, First Presbyterian Church, Mt. Zion Church, Rossville United Methodist Church, and many others gathering donations. Food, supplies, and support were provided by groups like Bussenger Chiropractic Clinic, Fayette County Public Library, Guaranty Bank & Trust Company, Cash Express, Dollar General, Midsouth Towing, Somerville Police Department, Somerville Rotary Club, ShopLocal Magazine, Superlo Foods, POS Global Concepts, MCP/Softee, Arlington Elementary, Fayette Academy, and East Jr. High, just to name a few.
