Community Shows Caring with Fayette Cares Christmas Food Distribution

Fayette Cares volunteers work hard to pack holiday food boxes.

Christmas caring filled the air when hundreds of Fayette Cares volunteers gathered on Saturday, December 10, 2022, to package and distribute food boxes for close to 400 families in need.

Fayette County Mayor Skip Taylor and Superintendent of Fayette County Public Schools Dr. Versie Hamlett pack Fayette Cares food boxes.

For many, the holiday season is the most wonderful time of the year. But for families struggling with homelessness, hunger, and family violence, there is little joy and celebration. At Warren Community Church, volunteers formed a large assembly line to cheerfully deliver a food gift to grateful families.

This group makes it a family tradition to participate in the Fayette Cares Christmas food distribution.

It was heartwarming to see great support from churches, schools, businesses, clubs, groups, and individuals. Examples of caring abounded with churches like Warren Community Church, St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, Somerville United Methodist, First Presbyterian Church, Mt. Zion Church, Rossville United Methodist Church, and many others gathering donations. Food, supplies, and support were provided by groups like Bussenger Chiropractic Clinic, Fayette County Public Library, Guaranty Bank & Trust Company, Cash Express, Dollar General, Midsouth Towing, Somerville Police Department, Somerville Rotary Club, ShopLocal Magazine, Superlo Foods, POS Global Concepts, MCP/Softee, Arlington Elementary, Fayette Academy, and East Jr. High, just to name a few.

Join caring supporters by making a year-end gift that provides shelter for the homeless, safety for victims of abuse, and stability for families in financial crisis. Tax-deductible donations can be made online at FayetteCares.org/Donate or by mailing a donation to Fayette Cares, P.O. Box 326, Somerville, Tennessee 38068.

Photos from this memorable day can be seen at FayetteCares.org/Christmas and on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram @FayetteCares.
