BEA Announces Scheduled Power Outage for September 20
Bolivar Energy Authority customers in several areas of Hardeman County should prepare for a scheduled power outage during the weekend of September 19 and 20.
According to BEA, the Tennessee Valley Authority has requested the outage to allow TVA to install new conductor along two routes of the 161 kV transmission system.
The outage is scheduled to begin at midnight and continue until 6 a.m. on Sunday, September 20. The outage is weather dependent.
Several BEA service areas are expected to be affected.
Customers served by the Toone Substation who are north of the Hatchie River to the Madison County line are scheduled to be without power. This includes the Toone, Cloverport and Silerton areas, along with Highway 18 North and Highway 125 North.
The Powell Chapel Substation service area will also be affected. This includes BEA customers east of the Hatchie River to the McNairy County line. Areas include Hornsby, locations north of Hornsby and the Powell Chapel Road area.
In the City of Bolivar service area, some customers will experience an outage while others can be served from other substations. Areas expected to be without power include downtown Bolivar, Stevens Road, the Country Club area and west Bolivar, including Old Highway 64, new Highway 64 and Vildo Road.
Other areas expected to be affected include streets near Bolivar Central High School and Bolivar Elementary School, Tate Road, east Bolivar and locations along Highway 18 South toward Hickory Valley.
BEA noted that the listed locations are intended to provide general areas and are not an all-inclusive list.
While the TVA work is underway, BEA personnel will also use the outage to perform maintenance and line retirement work. That work will take place at substations and in town along Highway 64 near TSC.
