A Look Inside the Bicentennial Time Capsule

Even though many Hardeman Countians were disappointed to learn the time capsule had been exhumed privately before the anticipated date, the Bicentennial Committee was equally disappointed when it lifted the lid and discovered the time capsule’s highly anticipated contents floating in water and silt.

Chairman Brad Grantham announced the vault was full of water in a Facebook post,

I am sad to report the vault was full of water and silt. The committee will start the long process over the next few weeks to try to salvage any of the contents. The salvageable items will then be displayed for public viewing.”

The salvageable contents from the time capsule will be displayed at the Hardeman County Courthouse from October 16 – 28, 2023.
