Aaron Gibson Named New Principal of Toone Elementary School

Aaron Gibson has been named the new principal of Toone Elementary School, bringing more than 16 years of experience in education and leadership to the role.
Gibson has spent the past 16 years serving as an agriculture teacher and FFA advisor at Bolivar Central High School. During the last two years, he also served half days as an assistant principal at Bolivar Elementary School.
Through his experience in both the classroom and administration, Gibson said he has developed skills in relationship building, instructional leadership, program management, budgeting, school safety, and supporting teachers and students.
“My vision for Toone Elementary is to continue to ensure that it is a place where every student feels safe, valued, challenged, and supported,” Gibson said. “I also want to continue the positive culture of caring relationships where students are encouraged to learn and teachers feel empowered to succeed.”
Gibson emphasized that creating a safe and supportive environment for students and staff will be among his top priorities. He said he wants students to experience academic growth while also developing emotional stability and confidence. For teachers, he hopes to foster a workplace where educators feel respected, trusted, and supported.
Academically, Gibson said he plans to focus on engaging, data-driven instruction that meets students where they are. He also stressed the importance of maintaining a positive school culture built on strong relationships, clear expectations, and celebrating student success.
Safety is another key focus for Gibson, who said he wants families, staff, and students to feel confident that the school is secure and proactive. He added that safety extends beyond physical security to creating an environment where students feel comfortable expressing themselves and learning.
A lifelong member of the community, Gibson said the opportunity to serve local students is especially meaningful to him.
“Having lived in this community nearly my entire life, I have always wanted to serve the students of this area,” he said.
Gibson also highlighted the important role the community plays in education, particularly in rural areas. He said schools are most successful when families, educators, and community stakeholders work together to support students.
In his first year as principal, Gibson said he plans to focus heavily on building relationships with students, staff, families, and the community while learning the school’s strengths and needs. He also wants to continue supporting teachers and promoting student achievement.
Gibson described his leadership philosophy as one centered on servant leadership, relationships, and teamwork.
“I believe effective leaders are visible, approachable, and willing to work alongside others,” he said.
He also believes relationships are essential to student success.
“Our students will learn best when they feel valued, supported, and connected to the adults around them,” Gibson said.
As he prepares to step into the role, Gibson said he is most excited about the opportunity to make a positive impact on students and families while helping shape the future of the school and community.
“I want families and students to know that I am committed to ensuring that Toone Elementary is a place where every child is cared for, challenged, and encouraged to succeed,” Gibson said. “My door will always be open, and I believe strong communication and partnerships are essential. Together we can have a school environment where students are proud to learn, teachers are proud to teach, and families are proud to be part of the school community.”
