Arts Council Holds Auditions for February Dinner Theatre

The Hardeman County Arts Council (HCAC) just closed Who Stole Santa’s Pants? this past weekend, which was its Christmas production. Although someone “stole” Santa’s pants, it was an adorable production written by local Hardeman County playwright Monita Carlin. Fortunately, before the play was over, Santa’s pants were found, and he was dressed in time to ride in the Christmas parade. Now, the HCAC is on to the next production and holding auditions.

Auditions for the HCAC dinner theatre, Crab Cakes and Murder – Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre, will be held on Tuesday and Thursday, December 6, and December 8, 2022. The dinner theatres are always a lot of fun for the audience, who get to enjoy a delicious meal and are given the task of trying to find out who murdered whom. Murder brings drama, and at the HCAC dinner theatres a whole lot of comedy.

The cast includes two to five women and five to eight men, ages 18 and older.

Synopsis: During a surprise storm, Captain Savage Raines goes missing at sea. The wreckage of the Half Shell is found, but with no sign of the commercial fisherman, Sheriff Sandy Shoals assumes Captain Raines is dead. That wouldn’t be a surprise considering what a hateful codger he was. Reeling in audience members to help sift through the evidence, Sheriff Shoals casts a wide net to try to catch the guilty party.

Auditions will be held at the HCAC, 1580 West Market, Bolivar, Tennessee 38008.

The production dates are Friday and Saturday, February 10 – 11, 2023, at 7 p.m.

Call the HCAC at (731) 658-2787 for more information.

Also at the HCAC this week is “An ELVIS Kind of Christmas” that will be presented on Friday, December 9, 2022, at 7 p.m. You may purchase tickets online now or at the box office one hour before the show.
