Bolivar-Hardeman County NAACP President Dixie Spencer Receives Distinguished Leadership Award

Bolivar-Hardeman County NAACP Branch President Mrs. Dixie Spencer has been recognized for her leadership and commitment to civil rights with a distinguished state honor.

Spencer was named the 2026 Distinguished Award Recipient of the Charles L. White, Jr. Leadership Award during the 80th Annual State Convention Freedom Awards Dinner on Saturday, September 26, 2026.

The Charles L. White, Jr. Leadership Award was named in 2002 in honor of Rev. Charles L. White, Jr., who served as NAACP Southeast Regional Director. The award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated leadership through their dedication and commitment to civil rights and who go beyond the call of duty to exemplify the policies and principles of the NAACP.

The Bolivar-Hardeman County NAACP Branch praised Spencer for embodying the leadership, service and commitment represented by the award.

“Mrs. Spencer exemplifies the spirit of leadership, service, and commitment that this award represents,” the branch stated. “Her dedication serves as an inspiration to those around her and reflects the importance of strong leadership in the ongoing pursuit of civil rights.”

The branch congratulated Spencer on the honor and recognized her continued service and leadership in the community.

“The Bolivar-Hardeman County NAACP Branch proudly celebrates you and recognizes your outstanding services,” the organization stated.
