Bolivar Middle School Students Meet at the Flagpole for Prayer

Bolivar Middle School students joined others from around the world on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, to recognize See You at the Pole™, a global day of student prayer. The students met at the flagpole which stands outside of the front of the school.

See You at the Pole™ has history that dates back to 1990. During the student-led event, participants spend the time lifting “their friends, families, teachers, school, and nation to God”.

“See you at the pole is a great way to help students come together and pray over the school community,” said Bolivar Middle School Band Teacher Matt Boatwright, who helped the students coordinate the event. The main focus was three scriptures:

2 chronicles 7:14 –  . . . if my people, who are called by my name . . .

John 14:15 – If you love me, keep my commandments.

John 15:12 – My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.

There were about 50 students that met at the flagpole. Some took turns reading from the Bible and Mr. Boatwright, who is also the pastor at Parrans Chapel Baptist Church in Bolivar, shared some words with the students.

“The main focus of the meeting was reading the three passages and praying for our teachers, students, that as people of Hardeman County we can meet together and pray to God in the name of Jesus.  The students prayed and asked God to help us learn to love one another in a Godly way,” said Mr. Boatwright. “The prayer was also that the Holy Spirit of God fills our hallways, classrooms, cafeterias, and most importantly the hearts and minds of all of those on school campuses in Hardeman County and even around the United States.”
