Michael Brown was sworn in as a new council member at the December Bolivar City Council meeting. Attorney Harriet Thompson administered the oath of office.

The council member vacancy was created when Councilman Dylan Hill resigned to accept a new full time position as Community Development and Tourism Director for the City of Bolivar.

Three candidates turned in their résumés in hopes of being selected, Chris Williams, Mike Brown, and Randy Hill. When the council members voted, Chris Williams and Randy Hill received two votes each, and Mike Brown received three votes.

Mike Brown is a 1983 graduate of Bolivar Central High School. He received his Bachelor of Science in Education from Tennessee Technological University and is currently employed by Western Mental Health. He had previously served on the Bolivar City Council from July 2001 through June 2007.
