Rodgerick Robinson of Middleton High School Named Mr. Basketball Finalist

Rodgerick Robinson, Jr., of Middleton High School (MHS) was named one of the Mr. Basketball Finalist in Class 1A last week by the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA).

This is the 38th year the Mr. and Miss Basketball Awards have been presented to Tennessee’s best high school basketball players.

“Middleton High School is very proud of Rodgerick. We hope to see great things from this young man. Post season tournaments are approaching and the expectations are high. He is very deserving,” said MHS basketball coach James Burkley.

Two other players were also named Class 1A finalists, Jason Britton of North Greene and Cadon Buckles of Hampton.

The Mr. and Miss Basketball Awards will be presented to the top girls and boys in six classifications of the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association on the floor of Murphy Center on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University on Monday, March 13, 2023, at 5 p.m. The event will be open to the public.

A statewide committee of sportswriters will select winners based on performance during the 2022-2023 regular season. Academics and character were also taken into consideration. High school head basketball coaches and members of the media nominated the finalists.
