Celebrity Servers Help Raise Money for Carl Perkins Center

Hardeman County “celebrities” came out to serve the community during the Hardeman County Exchange Club – Carl Perkins Center’s Dine for a Cause fundraiser, which was hosted by Backwoods of Bolivar on Thursday, April 10, 2025. Celebrity servers included City of Bolivar Mayor Julian McTizic, Hardeman County Assessor of Property Josh Pulse, General Sessions Judge Harriet Thompson, Jeff Shackelford of Shackelford Funeral Directors of Bolivar, and City of Bolivar Councilman Chris Williams, who were quick on their feet as they served the many customers dining at the restaurant showing their support.
“The funds raised are used to help both parents and children meet the practical needs of preserving and improving the quality of family life,” said Jennifer Burkeen, Carl Perkins Center representative.
This was the second year the Dine for a Cause event was held. It is one of the fundraisers the Center holds throughout the year to support its mission of providing support to families in preventing and dealing with child abuse in Hardeman County. Other recent fundraisers include the annual Festival of Trees and Family Feud, which raised more than $10,000 for the non-profit organization.
A highlight for the organization was being able to bring local community leaders, “celebrities”, together to raise money and awareness for the center. Diners were so impressed with the celebrity servers, the evening resulted in $1,055 being raised for the local Carl Perkins Center.
