Courthouse Grounds Get Updating Ahead of Bicentennial Celebration

Mike Gowdy (second from right) assisted with the project with additional help provided by the Warrior Center in Bolivar.

The grounds of the Hardeman County Courthouse received a makeover last month as the County prepares to celebrate its 200th birthday with a ceremony on October 28, 2023.

Mike Gowdy, who is a Master Gardener, assisted in the project by helping select plants that were suitable to our climate and low maintenance. The UT Extension service also assisted with the design and plants.

After removing the old shrubbery, new plants were put in, which included a Japanese Maple Tree and Hydrangeas on the west side of the courthouse. Fresh mulch was spread and repairs were made to the existing sprinkler system. Men from the Warrior Center in Bolivar also lent a hand with the work.
