“An Enchanted Forest” Themed Prom Attracts West Tennessee Homeschoolers

The highly anticipated “An Enchanted Forest” – A Homeschool Prom 2025, hosted by Homeschool Roster was held at Robin’s Nest Event Venue in Toone on Friday, May 9, 2025. More than 200 guests, including home school teens and parents, enjoyed an evening in a beautifully decorated setting, a loaded charcuterie board and dessert bar, and music, which kept the dance floor hopping.

The home school prom attracts middle school and high school students from West Tennessee. Some even come from out of state as far as Arkansas and Florida. Although a student must be homeschooled to attend the prom, a home school student is able to invite a public school or a private school student to attend as their guest.

“Homeschoolers know how to do prom,” said Jennifer Smeltser, of Homeschool Roster, who has hosted prom for several years. “A lot of helping hands are behind making the night special for our teens.”

Decorations throughout the venue highlighted the “An Enchanted Forest theme. In 2024, the prom theme was “A Night on Broadway” and the Hardeman County Arts Center in Bolivar was the perfect setting for the theatre focused event. Ms. Smeltser is already working on the theme for the next prom, which will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026.

“I believe the prom this year was one of the best ones Homeschool Roster has hosted. A big task is ahead for outdoing ourselves next year,” said Ms. Smeltser, who gets real joy out of the excitement she sees in the eyes of the teens, who attend the prom. “It is a lot of work putting together a prom, but making prom possible for these home school students is worth the effort, and I enjoy every minute of it.”
