Grand Junction Ruritan Club Awards $1,000 Scholarship to Darrell Walker Jr.
The Grand Junction Ruritan Club recently awarded its $1,000 scholarship to Darrell Walker Jr., a recent graduate of Middleton.
The scholarship was presented on Thursday, July 16, 2026, by Ruritan District Officer and LaGrange Mayor Earl Smith and Grand Junction Ruritan Club President Cyndi Langhans.
Walker, who lives in Grand Junction, graduated from Middleton at the end of the 2025-26 school year in May.
As he begins the next chapter of his education, Walker plans to attend Whiteville Vo-Tech, where he will study heating, air and plumbing with an interest in HVAC systems.
This marks the third year the Grand Junction Ruritan Club has been able to award the scholarship. Last year’s recipient was Middleton High School graduate Taylor Stinson, while Mariah McKinnie received the scholarship during its inaugural year.
The Grand Junction Ruritan Club wished Walker well as he continues his education and pursues his dreams.
The Ruritan Club exists to support urban and rural communities in times of stress and need through fellowship, goodwill, and community service. The local club includes outreach from Middleton to Hickory Valley as well as Saulsbury and LaGrange.
