Hardeman County Alternative School Recipient of School Supply Donation
In August, at the beginning of each school year, the Greater Springfield Missionary Baptist Church (GSMBC) Women’s Mission Union makes a donation to an area school to support the students in their education. Students at the Hardeman County Alternative School were the recipients of school supplies this year from the group.
The annual supply donation event is one that was started more than 10 years ago at the church under the leadership of Reverend Robert A. Parham and continued after Reverend Shontaviar S. Beasley was installed as pastor in April 2024. Along with a chosen school, the GSMBC Women’s Mission Union gives school supplies to the children and grandchildren of its church members.
“It’s an annual event we do every August to help the boys and girls make sure they have supplies,” said Ms. Sally Robinson.
Ms. Sally Robinson was a former home economics teacher with the Hardeman County Schools. She was proud to present the school supplies to her former Middleton High School student, Mary Ann Polk, who is the administrator at the Hardeman County Alternative School. Ms. Polk was just as proud and appreciative to accept the donation.
“Good deeds and kind gestures should never go unnoticed. Therefore, the Hardeman County Alternative School staff would like to acknowledge Greater Springfield Church and Pastor Shon Beasley for generously donating school supplies to aid in meeting the needs of our students,” said Ms. Polk. “We appreciate the thoughtfulness!”
