On Wednesday, August 23, 2023, Hardeman County Schools proudly announced they had received a 2022-2023 Tennessee Value-Added Assessment System (TVAAS) designation of Level 3 for the first time since the Tennessee Department of Education began assigning values in 2010. In addition, three schools, Bolivar Central High School, Toone Elementary, and Grand Junction Elementary, have achieved a Level 5 designation for achieving exceptional academic growth in the 2022-2023 school year.

“This is a major accomplishment and a testament to the dedication and effort of students, teachers, staff, parents, and all stakeholders. It takes a team, and when the team believes… the team can achieve. Our mission is to prepare students to be ready for their future and this proves we are on the right track!” said Dr. Christy Smith, Director of Schools.

The TVAAS Public Site provides school and district level reports for parents and the public.

The Tennessee Value-Added Assessment System (TVAAS) measures student growth year over year, regardless of whether the student is proficient on the state assessment. In calculating a TVAAS score, a student’s performance is compared relative to the performance of his or her peers who have performed similarly on past assessments.

The Hardeman County School Board recently voted to extend Director of Schools Dr. Christy Smith’s contract for an additional four years. {read more here}
