Kenley Harris Wins Hardeman’s Got Talent 2024 Contest
The Arts Council’s (HCAC) annual Hardeman’s Got Talent contest brought 12 contestants to the stage on Saturday, November 9, 2024, which included nine solo acts, two duets, and one group. Taking home first place and the top prize of $300 was soloist Kenley Harris, who sang ‘I Love Rock and Roll” by Joan Jett. The Second Place winner was Trinity Watkins, who sang “Part of your World” from The Little Mermaid, winning $200 and Third Place winner was Phillip McMahan, who sang “Mountain Music” by Alabama, winning $100.
Kenley and Trinity both competed in 2023, placing third and second, respectively. The competition this year included some returning performers as well as new ones. Since its inception, the Hardeman’s Got Talent contest has provided an open invitation for Hardeman County residents to perform live and on stage while presenting their unique style of performance art. Each year, the contestants prove undeniably there is huge amount of talent right here in Hardeman County.
“Hardeman’s Got Talent is always a fun event, and the level and amount of talent always blows us away,” said HCAC president Brandon Burvee. “We usually have younger contestants, but this year we saw more younger contestants than in past contests. We love to see children and teens get involved in theatre and fine arts to build relationships and connections to help their talents flourish.”
Judges Sharron Murden, Kathy Ross, and Greg Vaughan were challenged with choosing the winners of the Hardeman’s Got Talent contest.
Hardeman’s Got Talent is just one of the many events presented by the HCAC each season. Its upcoming December theatre production is Disney Frozen Jr.
