Magnolia Expands Care Network Ahead of Emergency Department Opening in Selmer

Residents in Hardeman, McNairy, and Hardin counties will soon have more access to emergent care as Magnolia Regional Health Center (MRHC) plans to open a freestanding emergency department in southwest Tennessee later in the year.

According to a recent press release, MRHC has signed an agreement to join Cigna Healthcare’s Tennessee LocalPlus network for employer-sponsored plans and Tennessee and Mississippi Connect networks for Affordable Care Act marketplace plans in Mississippi and Tennessee.

With the addition of these Cigna Healthcare networks to the current Commercial Open Access Plus, PPO, and Medicare Advantage/Healthspring networks, Magnolia Regional Health Center will now extend its comprehensive healthcare solutions to residents in Tennessee’s McNairy, Hardin, and Hardeman counties.

“We will foster community well-being, and streamline the delivery of care for individuals and their families in the region,” said Jim Hobson, CEO of Magnolia. “We are excited about the opportunities this expanded collaboration brings to both Magnolia and the communities we serve. The additional Cigna Healthcare networks will allow us to broaden our impact, providing advanced healthcare solutions to even more individuals.”

The central component of Magnolia’s expansion is the opening of the free standing emergency department in Selmer, Tennessee, currently scheduled to open late summer early fall of 2024.

McNairy County Mayor Larry Smith added, “I am excited about the partnership with Magnolia Regional Health Center, and the possibilities it brings to McNairy County. This is a big step in bringing emergency healthcare back to our county. I would like to thank all the people who were involved in making this happen. This is an important day in McNairy County and for our citizens.”

Magnolia’s expansion into Tennessee exemplifies a forward-looking approach to healthcare, emphasizing collaboration, innovation, and community well-being. This partnership underscores the health system’s dedication to raising the standard of healthcare excellence for residents of Tennessee.

Hobson also added, “Our expanded collaboration with Cigna Healthcare allows Magnolia to more fully serve the citizens of the Tennessee counties in our service area with quality, affordable health care, and would not have been possible without the tireless efforts of both county and state leaders. Their efforts to help bring quality healthcare closer to home for their constituents is nothing less than extraordinary.”
