Middleton Native RJ Wetherbee Lands Lead Role in STAR Inc.’s Guys and Dolls
Middleton native RJ Wetherbee is taking center stage this summer as Sky Masterson in STAR Inc.’s production of the classic musical comedy Guys and Dolls, which opens this weekend in Somerville, Tennessee.
Wetherbee portrays the charismatic high-roller Sky Masterson, one of the show’s leading characters. The beloved Broadway musical follows two intertwined love stories set in 1950s New York City. Sky Masterson falls for the straight-laced missionary Sarah Brown, played by Halle Farmer, while lovable gambler Nathan Detroit, portrayed by William Henry Jr., struggles to keep his illegal craps game hidden from police while dodging marriage to his long-suffering fiancée, Adelaide, played by Becca Lipscomb.
Wetherbee is no stranger to the STAR theatre stage. He has appeared in numerous STAR productions over the years, building an impressive list of credits that includes Simon in Our Town, Juror 8 in Twelve Angry Jurors, Stanford in Bright Star, Robert in The Drowsy Chaperone, Tarzan in Disney’s Tarzan, and Chris in The Play That Goes Wrong.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the latest production, Wetherbee said he is excited to once again be a part of a STAR Inc. show and encouraged audiences to enjoy the performance.
Performances of Guys and Dolls will be held July 24 & 25 at 7 p.m., July 31 & Aug. 1 at 7 p.m., with matinee performances scheduled for July 26 and Aug. 2 at 2:30 p.m.
The production will be presented at the Fair Theatre, located at 116 East Market Street in Somerville.
Tickets are $15 and may be purchased online or at the door.
