On Tuesday, February 13, 2024, the Bolivar-Hardeman County NAACP Youth Council, along with our NAACP Adult Branch went to “Legislative Day On the Hill” at the Capitol in Nashville, Tennessee. Many amazing people spoke in the House Chambers including the NAACP Tennessee State Conference President, Ms. Jean Sweet-Love. The speakers talked about topics like how to speak to/lobby your state senators and or representatives on house bills (HB), senate bills (SB) and being persistent in trying to change the laws for the betterment of our community. While the council retained this information, they also had a great time. They made bonds with other youth councils that will be remembered forever. This experience was eye opening, amazing, and educational. Therefore, the council will continue “STRIVING TOGETHER!”
