Obituary: Delbert Lynn McKee

Delbert Lynn McKee ~ November 10, 1951 – March 30, 2024 (age 72)

Delbert Lynn McKee, 72, of Middleton, departed this life Saturday, March 30, 2024, at his home.

Funeral services will be on Friday, April 5, 2024, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Shackelford Funeral Directors of Middleton with Brother David Howell officiating.  Visitation is Thursday, April 4, 2024, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.  The burial will be in the Reaves Cemetery. Those serving as pallbearers are Rickey Howell, Dewayne Skinner, Larry McCutchen, Jerry Stephens, Steve McKee, and Richard Crowley. Honorary pallbearers are John Tranum, Dale Knight, Ralph Mullins, Bobby Rainey, Kenneth Lanier, Tommy Howell, Marion Pulse, Justin Cupples, Buck Earnest, and Jackie Crawford.


A native and life-long resident of the Middleton area, he was the son of the late Erby and Jewell Stanley McKee. 

Mr. McKee began his work career in 1979 at Dover Elevators (now Thyssen-Krupp) in Middleton where he was an elevator cab fabricator. He was a member of Porter’s Creek Baptist Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed dancing and time spent with friends at Country Rockabilly Welcome Center in Walnut, Mississippi. Mr. McKee liked observing natural wildlife, joking with friends, and time spent with his family.

He is survived by his son, Matthew McKee and wife, Jessica, of Arlington, Tennessee; and a brother, Wayne McKee of Middleton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Megan Nicole McKee; a sister, Judy Cupples; and a brother, Harold McKee.
