Obituary: Elizabeth Russell Sanders – Middleton

Elizabeth Russell Sanders ~ September 16, 1952 – December 24, 2022 (age 70)

Elizabeth Russell Sanders passed from this life at her home near Middleton on Saturday night, December 24, 2022.

The daughter of the late William Marshall “Buck” Russell and Mildred Aleen Sparks Russell, she was a life-long resident of Hardeman County and a 1970 graduate of
Middleton High School. On May 30 of that year, she was married to Mr. Howard Leon Sanders until his death on June 21, 2014. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Alice Marie Russell Williams and a grandson, Jonathan Austin Wilbanks.

Mrs. Sanders worked for over 20 years at Cherokee Landing near Saulsbury as a salesperson and was a Baptist in belief. Her leisure hours were often spent gardening, fishing with her husband, and almost daily picnics with her grandchildren.

She leaves two daughters, Amy Gail Sanders (Lonnie Michael Scott) of Middleton and Autumn Lynn Richardson (William Edward) of Pocahontas; five brothers and sisters, Roy Marshall Russell of Texas, Betty Gail Russell Keller (Larry), Bobby Gene Russell and Charles Douglas Russell (Amanda), all of Roger Springs. and Sandra Aleen Russell Willingham of Ripley, Mississippi; grandchildren, Ashley Wilbanks Collins (Jesse), Madison Elizabeth Richardson, James-Howard O’Neal Sanders (Shelby Jean), Emily Renee Sanders, Nathan Christopher Watkins, Lily Jo Sanders, and Jessa Rain Agee; and great-grandchildren, Wesley Collins, Mason, Amelia Rose, and Dallas Hank Sanders.

Shackelford Funeral Directors, 109 Mecklinburg Drive, Bolivar, Tennessee, were in charge of private services.

Memorials may be sent to LeBonheur Children’s Hospital or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
