Jackie Butts, 77, of Bolivar, passed from this life Sunday, August 28, 2022, at Bolivar General Hospital.

She was born September 16, 1944, in Lompoc, California, daughter of the late Jack Del Grande and Joycelyn Wallis Del Grande, and had lived in Memphis prior to moving to Bolivar 24 years ago. Jackie married Larry Powell Butts on July 2, 1972, and was a very supportive Navy career wife, working as a squadron ombudsman while her husband was deployed. After completing Eureka High School, she attended dental school in San Diego, California, where she was certified as a dental assistant. Jackie attended State Technical Institute at Memphis for two years where she was on the President’s or Dean’s list every quarter. She was retired from Southwest Tennessee Community College where she had worked as a cashier and caretaker. Her husband describes her as loving, and the easiest person to get along with. Jackie loved people, especially strangers, hugging, and waving at everyone she could reach, and therefore did not understand the restrictions imposed by the Covid outbreak. She came from a large family herself, consisting of three brothers and five sisters. When someone spoke of Jackie, the word most often used was “sweet”. She also was a true animal lover, especially her beloved “Lubbie”. Jackie accepted the Lord as her Savior in 1976 and attended First Baptist Church in Pocahontas when she was able.
