Obituary: Paulette Henson

Paulette Henson, cherished member of the Bolivar community, passed away peacefully in her home on March 2, 2026, at the age of 79. Born on October 12, 1946, in Hardeman County, Paulette dedicated her life not only to her family but also to her career and community, notably as a Support Manager at Walmart for over 20 years. Earlier in her professional journey, she made significant contributions while working at the Garment Factory.

Paulette was a devoted member of Dixie Hill Baptist Church, where she found strength and fellowship in her faith. Known for her generous spirit, she was often described as someone “always doing for others.” Her warmth and commitment to helping those around her earned her the affectionate title of “Grandma” at the Warrior Center, reflecting her nurturing nature and the loving relationships she formed within her community.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Paulette had a myriad of hobbies and interests that brought joy to her life. She loved to sew and had a special talent for making candy, which delighted her family and friends. A passionate sports fan, she cheered for both the St. Louis Cardinals and the New York Yankees, showcasing her vibrant personality and spirited enthusiasm. Most importantly, Paulette treasured the time spent playing with babies, embracing the joy of family and fostering connections across generations.

Paulette is survived by her loving sister Myrtie Schlueter (Ken), along with her siblings Martha Howell (David), Jerry Ballard (Barbara), and Russell Ballard (Lynn). She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews who will carry her memory forward.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie Paul Ballard and Nema Ethel Tull Ballard; her son Brian Paul Henson; and her siblings Monroe Willis, Thelma Sumler, Billy Ballard, Herman Ballard, Margret Hooper, and Deloyd Willis.

A visitation to honor Paulette’s life was held at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Bolivar on March 4, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, followed by another visitation at Dixie Hills Baptist Church on March 5, 2026, that began at 11:00 AM. The funeral service took place at Dixie Hills Baptist Church.

Paulette Henson will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, and her spirit will forever resonate in the hearts of those she touched.
