Obituary: Teresa (Terry) Young – Olive Branch, Mississippi

Teresa (Terry) Young ~ October 12, 1960 – November 30, 2022 (age 62)

Teresa (Terry) Young, 62, of Olive Branch, passed from this life Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at her home. She was born Wednesday, October 12, 1960, in Trenton, New Jersey, the daughter of Frances Earnest Rayburn of Sardis and the late James T. Rayburn, and lived in Middleton for several years prior to moving to Olive Branch about 18 years ago. She worked as a legal assistant for 30 years, working for James T. Sanderson, Harriet Thompson, Steve Hale, Bill Hatton, Harvey, James & Ivy in Jackson, and several other firms in the Memphis area. Her last position was as a professional legal assistant with UT Health Science Center general counsel.

She married Philip Young on April 8, 1994, and enjoyed cooking, spending time with her family, whom she dearly loved, relaxing in her pool, going to the zoo, and her kitty cats. Mrs. Young was Baptist in faith.

Services were on Sunday, December 4, 2022, at the Shackelford chapel in Middleton at 3 p.m. Burial was in Hebron Cemetery. Shackelford Funeral Directors, 109 Mecklinburg Drive, Bolivar, Tennessee were in charge of professional arrangements.

Survivors include her husband, Philip Young of Olive Branch, Mississippi; her mother, Frances Rayburn of Sardis, Mississippi; a son, Matthew McKee (Jessica), of Arlington; a daughter and son, Petha Spivey of Pace, Florida and Philip Michael Young-Casias of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida; a sister, Regina Rayburn of Sardis, Mississippi; and 10 grandchildren, Jocelyne, Gary, Annalise, Savanna, David, Syra, Aliexa, Joey, Hailey, and Peyton. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Megan McKee, in 1992, a great niece, Amber Keller, and her precious pet of almost 22 years, “Mittens”.

Memorial contributions in her name may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association.
