Obituary: Virginia Blakely
Virginia Blakely ~ April 21, 1938 – June 20, 2023 (age 85)
Virginia Blakely, 85, of Bolivar, departed this life on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at her home.
The daughter of the late Owen and Annie Hazlegrove White, she was a life-long resident of Hardeman County and the widow of Leonard Lewis Blakely,
whom she married on October 21, 1961. Mr. Blakely passed October 18, 1994.
She was a member of Bolivar First Baptist Church and was a hairdresser for 60 years retiring July 15, 2021. Many times, she could be found helping
those around her, including many of her customers, with trips to the grocery store or other errands. She was always looking for a way to be of service to
others.
Graveside services were held at Clifft Cemetery near Bolivar on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at 4 p.m.
Mrs. Blakely is survived by her son and his wife, Alan Scott and Jodi Blakely, of Jackson; grandson, James Blakely; great-grandson, Austin Blakely, both of Kings Mountain, North Carolina; and her sister, Janet Sue White Wilson, of Bolivar.
Memorials may be sent to Bolivar First Baptist Church.
