William T. Howell ~ October 27, 1927 – October 26, 2023 (age 95)
Mr. William T. Howell, 95, passed from this life at his home in Middleton on Thursday, October 26, 2023.
The son of the late Willie Edward and Lillie Gertrude Sisco Howell, he lived most of his life in Hardeman County except from 1970-1990 when he resided in the Memphis-Olive Branch area. It was during that time, he worked in maintenance with Federal Express for 12 years before retiring in 1990. Mr. Howell also worked for Hunter Fans and Carrier Corporation.
On March 11, 1950, he married the former Eva Mae Freeman. Following 61 years of marriage, Mrs. Howell passed away on Christmas Eve, 2011 at her home. Mr. Howell was a member of Brints Chapel Baptist Church and, in his leisure time, enjoyed his farm, his horses, coon hunting and time spent with family.
Services will be at Brints Chapel Baptist Church on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at 3:30 p.m. with burial in the church cemetery. Shackelford Funeral Directors of Bolivar is in charge of professional arrangements.
He leaves four children, Johnny Howell of Bolivar, William G. Howell of Grand Valley Lakes, Marilyn (Joe) Howell of Middleton. and Danny (Barbara) Howell of Palatine, Illinois; his sister, Linda (Ray) Webb of Pinson, Tennessee; his brother, Frankie (DeAnna) Howell of Bolivar; seven grandchildren, Chris (Jennifer) Burns, Bryon (Elizabeth) Burns, Desi (Joe) Ball, Tabi (J. C.) Kingfisher, Joe (Hailey) Howell, III, and Maria and Kayla Howell; and 12 great-grandchildren, Destiny Pennewell, Damian Sutton, Chris Burns, Jr., Deacon Skidgel, Blake Burns, Isaiah Sutton, Ethan Burns, Caleb Burns, Hudson Sharp, Nevaeh Kingfisher, and Dusty Howell and Joe Howell, IV.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Mae Howell; a son, Tommy Howell; three sisters, Sadie Mae, Lillie Fae, and Dorothy; and six brothers, Virgil, James, Orville, Jackie, Leon, and Billy Howell.
Memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee.
