Public Notice: Checkpoint Operation Plan- Grand Junction Police Department

The following is a public notice.
PURPOSE
The purpose of this checkpoint is to deter and detect drivers in violation of the seatbelt restraint law. The checkpoint is conducted in accordance with Tennessee law and constitutional requirements to promote public safety.

Authorized by: Chief Michael Hatch
Legal Basis: Michigan Dept. of State v. Sitz (1990); State v. Downey (Tennessee); department policy.
Supervisor in Charge: Chief Michael Hatch
LOCATION & TIME
Location: U.S. Highway 57 at North Tippah Street, Grand Junction, Tennessee
Justification: Two lane highway at intersection with shoulder on roadway and parking pull off areas that would provide sufficient space for vehicle staging and officer safety. This area is a well traveled highway with a history of drivers violating traffic laws.

Every vehicle passing through the checkpoint will be stopped.
