Senior Expo Coming to Jackson on May 23

The Southwest Tennessee Development District’s (SWTDD) Senior Expo is back for the first time since COVID caused the biennial event to be canceled in May 2020! This fun event, open to all senior adults in the region, will be an out-of-this-galaxy celebration at the Carl Perkins Civic Center in Jackson, 400 South Highland Avenue, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2024. This fun-filled, space-themed celebration, entitled “Powered by Connection” is in observance of “Older Americans Month”. The Southwest Tennessee Development District’s Area Agency on Aging & Disability hosts the Senior Expo every other year.

This fun-filled day is themed around everything  outer space, galaxies, and stars. Attendees can expect food, fun, games, vendors, screenings, entertainment, and lunch. The 2024 Senior Expo is open to all senior citizens in the region — especially the young-at heart in the SWTDD counties of Chester, Decatur, Hardeman, Hardin, Haywood, Henderson, Madison, and McNairy.

Admission of $15 per person covers munchies,  games, lunch and entertainment, screenings and information regarding health-related issues, and sessions on Medicare and other senior-related topics. Pre-registration is requested for proper lunch planning. Exhibit space is $125 per vendor.

This event is co-sponsored by SWTDD’s Area Agency on Aging & Disability, Alzheimer’s Tennessee, City of Jackson Parks & Recreation Department, Gentiva Hospice, and United Healthcare. For more information about Southwest Tennessee Development District’s Senior Expo, contact Jessica Rice, (731) 668-6967. To register to attend, contact Summer Howell, (731) 668-6419 or e-mail showell@swtdd.org.
