Tennessee Forest Festival Canning Contest Accepting Entries in September

The Tennessee Forest Festival Canning Contest will give local canners an opportunity to showcase their skills in a variety of categories, with divisions available for both adults and juniors ages 16 and under.

Entries will be accepted September 14-18, 2026, at 210 Vildo Road in Bolivar. Participants should bring their labeled jars to the office during the entry period. Only one jar is allowed per entry.

The contest includes categories for jams and jellies, sauces, salsas and relish, pickles, vegetables, and fruits.

Jam categories include blackberry, blueberry, strawberry, peach and any other jam. Jelly entries may include apple, blackberry, grape, peach, plum and any other jelly. Apple butter and peach butter are also included.

The sauces, salsas and relish division includes chow chow, tomato relish, pepper sauce, spaghetti sauce, salsa and any other relish.

Pickle categories include dill pickle, sweet pickle, pickled okra, bread and butter pickle, squash pickle and any other pickle. Canners may also enter banana peppers, jalapeno peppers and any other pepper.

Vegetable categories include corn, field peas, green beans, soup mix, tomato juice, tomatoes, squash and any other vegetable.

The fruit division includes apples, blackberries, peaches, pears, plums, pie filling, fruit juice and applesauce.

Premiums will be paid for first-, second- and third-place entries. Participants whose jars win a ribbon will be contacted.

Entries may be picked up Monday, September 28, 2026.
