A telephone message sent from Bolivar Central High School at approximately 10 a.m. on the morning of Wednesday, September 11, 2024, indicated a weapon had been found on the campus and an individual had been taken into custody.

The full message from the school states, “This is a message from Bolivar Central High School. This morning, a weapon was discovered on the campus of Bolivar Central High School. We want to assure you that the weapon has been secured and removed from campus, and the individual involved has been taken into custody. As a precautionary measure, we are conducting a thorough sweep of the building with law enforcement and will remain on a soft lockdown for approximately one to two hours. While we believe the situation is under control, we understand that you may wish to check your child out of school. If you choose to pick up your child, please do so from the circle drive entrance only. A staff member will escort your student to the front and you will need to sign them out. We anticipate that this process may take some time, but it is crucial for ensuring the safety of all students. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. We will keep you updated as the situation develops.”
