Grove Street Graffiti Artist Arrested
One suspect has been arrested and charged in connection with multiple vandalism incidents spread over at least two counties. For months, citizens in Hardeman and Fayette Counties have been cleaning up green graffiti spray paint on their businesses, churches, and residences.
The Hardeman County Sheriff’s Department reports that Jarius Adams (age 32), of Rossville, was identified as a suspect and that Adams stated he spray painted locations in both counties due to the pain he experienced after a recent break-up. It is estimated the damage caused is over $20,000. Jarius Adams has been arrested and faces 13 charges of felony vandalism in Hardeman County and similar charges in Fayette County.
Some Hardeman County locations that have been affected by the graffiti vandalism include The Jackson Clinic, Choate Manufacturing, Hickory Valley Grocery, Valero Gas Station, New Life Christian Fellowship Church, 57 Deli, Glory Hair Care, Gurkins Gas Station, and The National Bird Dog Museum. Other locations include various residences, churches, businesses, and signage from Rossville to Bolivar.
The law presumes newly charged defendants are innocent of the charges against them. This presumption remains with the defendant throughout every stage of the criminal process, and it is not overcome unless and until a judge or jury of their peers is convinced beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant is guilty.
