Hardeman Added Back as Distressed County, 1 of 8 in Tennessee
Tennessee Governor Bill Lee announced the number of distressed counties in the state has reduced to eight, the fewest in Tennessee history, marking a significant milestone in the Lee administration’s mission to accelerate the transformation of rural Tennessee. {read article}

The City of Middleton met for its regularly scheduled monthly meeting on June 22, 2023 and discussed several agenda items. {read article}

DEVCO Allocates $394,500 For Bolivar Projects
The Bolivar Downtown Development Corporation (DEVCO) met on Monday, June 19, 2023, and approved several items to further their goal of guiding growth and reinvestment in downtown Bolivar. {read article}

TCAP Results Show Strong Gains in All Tested Subjects and Grades Statewide
The Tennessee Department of Education released the 2022-2023 Tennessee Comprehensive Assessment Program (TCAP) state-level results, demonstrating increases in academic proficiency for students across all tested subjects and grades. {read article}

Middleton Library Receives $10,000 Anonymous Donation
The Middleton Community Library is thrilled to announce it has received a generous $10,000 donation from an anonymous local donor through the American Endowment Foundation. {read article}

LIBRARY HAPPENINGS
Check out what is happening this week at the Bolivar-Hardeman County Library, Grand Junction Library, and Middleton Library during their Summer Reading programs.
FULL MOON HIKE
Join in the fun with a Full Moon Hike at Sand Beach Lake on Monday, July 3, 2023, at 8:30 p.m. Red flashlights only to keep vision adjusted to the dark. Under 18 must have supervision. Registration is not required, but for more information, contact (731) 609-5765.
EXERCISE CLASS
Line Dance and Fitness Class will be held at the Bolivar Municipal Center, 211 North Washington Street, Bolivar, 38008, on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at 5 p.m. (advanced class).
SUMMER LUNCH PROGRAMS
The Lee Ola Roberts Library and Simon Chapel Baptist Church are two of the locations throughout Hardeman County that are offering a summer lunch program.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
There are several Hardeman County churches holding Vacation Bible School this summer. If you know of a church with a program this summer and it is not on the list, e-mail news@hatchiepress.com to get it added.
