Why have you chosen to run for Hardeman County Mayor?
Bennett: I have chosen to run for Hardeman County Mayor to ensure strong, effective leadership, provide transparency in decision-making, and maintain accountability to every citizen we serve. I believe the people of Hardeman County deserve open communication, responsible financial management, and leadership that puts the interests of our communities first.
Would you like to share anything about your family and work history?
Bennett: My wife and I attend First Baptist Church in Pocahontas with my mother, Judy Morphis, and her husband, Rayde Morphis. My son, Kyle Bennett, works in business with me while also serving Fayette County through his work with Fayette County Public Works. My daughter, Molly Street, serves our community as a local rural route mail carrier. They have blessed us with five beautiful granddaughters. I want them — and all families — to experience Hardeman County at its finest for years to come. I’ve been blessed to have worked in the racing industry, advancing through the ranks to the corporate level and achieving the highest goals I set from childhood. My wife, Kelly, pursued her passion for children for thirty-five years, teaching special education and first grade and positively impacting generations of students and families.
What experience do you have that has prepared you for this position?
Bennett: I have the leadership experience to build and manage a team that works in unison to move projects forward. I executed a clear vision focused on revenue-based development, responsible growth, and a shared commitment to deliver profitability. I have created diversified marketing strategies to encompass structured business development.
What do you anticipate being the most difficult part of this position?
Bennett: The most difficult part of this position will be sustaining services with a stressed budget. It will require aggressive planning and a deliberate strategy to overcome past shortcomings while maintaining essential services for our citizens.
In a single sentence (about 25 words), how would you respond to the question, “Why should I vote for you?”
Bennett: You should vote for me based on my ability, integrity, commitment, and determination to create the best possible future for all of the wonderful people of Hardeman County.
Early voting dates are Wednesday, April 15 – Thursday, April 30, 2026, for the May 5, 2026, County Primary.
