Senior Spotlight: Cheyenne Davidson
By: Hannah Thompson

Graduating as Valedictorian is an incredibly sought after feat that few earn. For Middleton High School’s Class of 2026, that title was secured by Cheyenne Davidson. The title did not come without hard work and dedication.
Cheyenne achieved an impressive GPA while participating in several extracurriculars including, Senior Beta, FFA, Aspire, 4-H, Hardeman County Clay Dusters, and Middle College. “Middle College has definitely been one of the best things that I have had the opportunity to do. Some of the benefits that come along with doing it are getting to graduate high school with an Associates Degree, getting the opportunity to experience the style of college classes early, and shaving off two years that I would spend furthering my education at a four-year university,” shared Cheyenne.

The teachers and staff are what Cheyenne will miss most about MHS. Cheyenne says that attending a small school made it easy to develop bonds and create long lasting relationships. Mrs. Null-Flake was an especially influential teacher for Cheyenne. “Truthfully, she was the reason that I understood math so well. Her classroom was always a safe space for asking questions and taking risks, and she would always help us every step of the way whether it was a math equation or a completely different problem that we were having. Anytime she signed her name, she would always end it with a math equation, one of the many reasons why we love Mrs. Null.”
There are two high school memories that Cheyenne says she will always remember fondly. Those memories include a homecoming pep rally that led to a homecoming victory and the last day of school from each of her four years at MHS. “The ‘finally summer’ feeling that we felt each year hearing the bell ring for the last time is something that I will always remember.”

Agriculture was Cheyenne’s favorite subject. Cheyenne has chosen to attend UT Martin to continue her study of Agriculture. “I chose UT Martin because it felt most like home and had everything that I was looking for in a college such as programs and distance.”
Participating in Honors classes and Middle College was challenging, but Cheyenne says it made her a more prepared and responsible person. “The biggest lesson that I learned in high school was to always work hard for the things that you want most in life, because if the things we wanted were easy, everyone would have them.”
Cheyenne would encourage incoming freshmen to work hard, but to also enjoy high school. “The jump from freshman year to senior year goes by incredibly fast and you don’t want to look back and regret not making the most of your years in high school.”
Dependable, strong-willed, and responsible is how Cheyenne would describe herself. She hopes that others will remember her in a similar way. “I hope people remember me for the type of person that I was rather than the things that I accomplished. For being a positive role model, someone who was supportive and honest.”
Cheyenne’s mother has been her biggest supporter. “She always encourages me to do my best and be the best person that I can be and she continues to inspire me everyday.”

Outside of school, Cheyenne enjoys participating in competitive clay shooting, spending time with her family and friends, going to the Tennessee River, and listening to music. Her favorite hype song is “Gettin’ Warmed Up” by Jason Aldean. In five years, Cheyenne hopes to be successful and thriving.
