Bolivar Middle School Announces Dr. Cheairs as New Principal

By: Hannah Thompson
Bolivar Middle School has announced the appointment of Dr. Sandra Cheairs as its new principal for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. Dr. Cheairs brings 30 years of experience in Hardeman County Schools. Dr. Cheairs has served as a middle school math teacher for 9 years, an elementary Assistant Principal and Instructional Coach for 17 years, and was the Assistant Principal for 3 years at Bolivar Middle School prior to her current role as principal.
“As a servant leader, I am honored to share and use my learning, training, and experiences to benefit the school learning community,” shared Dr. Cheairs.
Bolivar Middle School has experienced challenges with academic performance, but Dr. Cheairs is prepared to lead the school’s efforts toward continued growth and improvement with intentionality and consistency, by analyzing pertinent data (discipline, growth, and absenteeism), increasing student growth and achievement in all subject areas, retaining and growing effective teachers, building a positive school culture, and building relationships with the school community and beyond.
“Positive relationships play an essential role in student success,” says Dr. Cheairs. “When students feel and know that teachers care, students will try and care for themselves and their growth. Building positive relationships among the school learning community fosters human connections and builds supportive communities.”
Dr. Cheairs would like families and students to know that they are all a part of a team. “BMS needs everyone that is a part of the village to help our students achieve through encouragement, engagement, academic support, PTO, role models, time, and contributions.”
