Obituary: Kay Greene Sykes
Kay Greene Sykes, 72, of Bolivar, passed from this life on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 8 from 5:00pm – 9:00pm and on Wednesday, September 9 from 9:00am – 12:00pm. Services will begin at 12:00pm on Wednesday with Richard Dickerson officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at Union Cemetery in Bolivar.
Mrs. Sykes is survived by her husband, Don Sykes; daughter, Patricia Sullivan (Brad); sons, Daniel Sykes and David Sykes (Carrie); and grandchildren, Lila Sullivan, Oliver Sykes, Allie Sykes, and Rosaleigh Sykes. She is preceded in death by her parents, George Thomas Greene II and Doris Jean Jordan Greene; and brothers, Ted Greene and Ronald Greene.
Mrs. Sykes was a 1972 graduate of Bolivar Central High School and a life-long resident of Hardeman County. She retired from her role as a bank teller in 2014, and worked previously for many of the banks in town, including CB&S, Bank Independent, and the Bank of Bolivar.
She enjoyed being at home and watching soap operas, but her family brought her the most enjoyment out of life. She could be found baking sweets and desserts for them in her free time, and she was the best at remembering important family events like birthdays, and anniversaries. She also enjoyed watching her sons play travel ball.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to The Saint Jude Children’s Hospital.
