Bolivar Moves Forward with Sand Beach Lake Trail Improvements
Plans to improve the recreational trail around Sand Beach Lake are moving forward after the Bolivar City Council selected a firm to provide engineering services for the project during its September 14, 2026, meeting.
The city received two statements of qualifications for its Rails-to-Trails Recreational Trail Grant project, one from A2H and another from Performance Services. Mayor Julian McTizic recommended Performance Services, noting the company has already been assisting the city with the grant application process.
The council unanimously approved moving forward with Performance Services.
McTizic said the project will include asphalt work on the trail around Sand Beach Lake. The selection of Performance Services is for engineering services associated with the project, rather than the construction work itself.
According to McTizic, representatives working with the city believe the project could potentially be completed before the end of the year, although he cautioned that he was not expecting such a quick turnaround.
“They think they can get it done before the year is out,” McTizic told the council, adding that completing the project that quickly “would be exciting.”
The trail project is one of several ongoing efforts by the City of Bolivar to improve recreational opportunities in the community.
