Bolivar Senior Center to Receive $50k Grant
The Department of Disability and Aging (DDA) has awarded $5 million in grant funding to 122 senior centers in Tennessee, including $50,000 to the Bolivar Senior Center. These grants will support senior centers across all three grand divisions. The funding is encouraged to fund goals, including capital projects, marketing, programming, activities, and routine operating expenses.
The grant recipients were selected out of 142 applicants. Funding for the 122 senior centers ranges from $5,000 to $50,000.
“Senior centers are a foundation of community to older adults across the Volunteer State,” said DDA Commissioner Brad Turner. “As the fastest growing demographic in our state, it’s vital that we, as a state agency, do all we can to help senior centers thrive.”
Since grant funding started in 2020, DDA has been able to fund 192 senior centers across the state.
“These grants will ensure that over 100 centers in both rural and urban communities are better equipped to serve our growing aging population through volunteer recruitment, new equipment, robust programming, and new capital projects,” Turner said. “DDA is committed to empowering older Tennesseans to continue to pursue the American dream, and this investment symbolizes our commitment to that vision.”
