Dove Season Safety Reminder: Avoid Shooting Near Power Lines and Utility Equipment

As hunters head to the fields, Bolivar Energy Authority wants to remind those who enjoy dove hunting to practice good sportsmanship and firearm safety by avoiding shots near electric and fiber optic lines.
One of the fundamental rules of firearm safety is to “know your target and what lies beyond it.” A shot that damages a power or fiber optic line can result in costly repairs and significant service outages.
While you may successfully take down a bird, a stray shot could also leave hundreds or even thousands of people without electricity or internet service.
Please hunt safely, be aware of your surroundings, and help protect the utility infrastructure that serves our communities.
