Hardeman County Commissioner Miller to Hold Fourth Town Hall Meeting in April

When Ms. Miller took office in September 2022, one of her goals was to make a personal connection with the people in the community she represents.

Hardeman County Commissioner Bethany Miller will hold her fourth Town Hall Meeting at Carriage House Coffee on Thursday, April 4, 2024. On the panel this time will be Tennessee State Representative Ron Gant, Tennessee State Senator Page Walley, and Hardeman County Sheriff John Doolen.

“Let’s Talk About the Issues” is the purpose of the meeting as it has all been for the previous meetings Ms. Miller has held. When Ms. Miller took office in September 2022, one of her goals was to make a personal connection with the people in the community she represents.

“I think it is important to hold town hall meetings for people to know what is going on, when they can’t make it to commission meetings or city council meetings,” said Miller, who planned to hold meetings each quarter. “I want to include them and maybe be more personable with them, so they can connect and ask questions.”

Ms. Miller held her first Town Hall Meeting in April 2023 with invited speakers Mr. Evelyn Robertson, Hardeman County Election Administrator Amber Moore, Hardeman County Clerk Tonet Griggs, and Hardeman County Assessor of Property Josh Pulse.

She followed up with a meeting in August with invited speakers James Reaves with the Discrimination Financial Assistance Program, Hardeman County Road Superintendent Casey Swift, Hardeman County Director of Schools Dr. Christy Smith, and Tennessee State Representative Johnny Shaw.

She closed out 2023 with a third meeting in December with invited speakers and Hardeman County employees Landfill Director Steven Graves, Emergency Medical Services Director Jamie Barnett, and then Zoning Compliance Officer Jim Pierce.

Many of the newer elected officials have been making an effort to connect with the citizens they represent by holding town hall meetings. Hardeman County Commissioners Chandra Lake and Cory Bufford held meetings in February 2024 and last month in Whiteville. Commissioner Joseph Jenkins held a Town Hall Meeting in October 2023, and Bolivar City Councilman Chris Williams will hold one on Thursday, March 21, 2024.
