Hardeman County Learning Center Receives $5,000 TVA STEM Grant

A representative from Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) and Bolivar Energy Authority’s Tony Kirk presented the Hardeman County Learning Center with a $5,000 STEM grant on Friday, April 17, 2026.
Hardeman County K-8 S.T.E.M. Coordinator Deana Sain, Senator Page Walley, Hardeman County Mayor Todd Pulse, Bolivar Mayor Julian McTizic and Hardeman County Schools Director Dr. Christy Smith were also present for the celebratory occasion.
TVA and TVA retiree organization Bicentennial Volunteers, Inc., are helping teachers across the region provide hands-on science, technology, engineering, and math education experiences through the STEM classroom award program.
Since 2018, TVA and BVI have provided nearly $8 million in STEM awards supporting more than 730,000 students. The program is operated in partnership with the Tennessee STEM Innovation Network, managed by the Battelle organization.
Awards up to $5,000 are available through a competitive process, with preference to applications that explore TVA’s primary areas of focus: environment, energy, economic development and community problem solving.
Any school that receives electricity from a local power company served by TVA is eligible to apply.
